SADDLE SHOPPING
(ALL BRANDS & DISCIPLINES)
PRICING: $45/hour plus travel fees. Includes one set of templates.
The saddle industry makes saddle shopping, the CORRECT way, very difficult for consumers because they do not tell you how their saddle will fit your horse! Consumers are fooled into thinking that one brand of saddle will fit every horse. The truth is that there is only a narrow spectrum of fit for each brand. The knowledge of brand “fit” is only gained through years of fitting all types of saddles. Also, because we do not ascribe to a particular brand and because we do not work on commissions from saddle companies, you can TRUST that our saddle expert will not lead you into buying the wrong saddle just to make a sale.
STOP lugging countless saddles to the barn in hopes of a fit! STOP wasting money, time, and resources! Our saddle expert will assist you in finding the perfect saddle for you AND your horse. WE KNOW SADDLES! We know what saddles work on what types of horses! We know quality versus crap! We know the pros and cons of different brands! We know reputable tack stores, online distributors, and saddle companies! We will help you find a saddle right for YOU, YOUR HORSE, AND YOUR BUDGET!

“My horse, Casey, is a Thoroughbred. He naturally has this Shark-Fin wither which in turn makes him hard to fit. I bought him from the college I graduated from in 2006. He was fired from his job as a lesson horse because he developed the habit of throwing his riders. When I started working with him, he was mildly better. I still had issues with him... like couldn't stop at times. He'd bolt and build momentum like no other horse. Also, he was chronically back sore (complete with white scaring hair on his withers). I stuck with him though because he was a good mover and not a bad horse. Almost everyone, though, chalked his behavior problems up to his sour disposition and poor manners under-saddle. When I moved him to FL, his attitude changed for the better but I still had bolting issues. I found a good trainer and got to work on 're-schooling' my horse. He got better at the bolting but his back was still SUPER sore. He'd learn to cope with the pain from years of bad saddle fit and bad riding. In all of my lessons and even local shows He would swap-out his lead behind and then switch it back to the proper lead in less than a full stride's time. My trainer suggested hock injections... I totally balked at that idea! I started with acupuncture instead. The Acupuncturist told me that my saddle didn't fit at all and Casey's back was sore... she couldn't tell me if it was the hock making the back hurt or the back making everything else sore. I didn't want to do the hock injections so I started looking for a new saddle. This is where Amanda came in. I WAS NOT going to buy a saddle that kinda fit my horse and could be 'fixed' with pads. My horse's back had already been through enough abuse!!! Amanda helped me find, adjust, and fix my saddle problems. The VERY first time I rode my horse in my new saddle, that infamous hind swap was GONE. My horse was round and reaching for the bit. I was FLOORED and very pleased. Now, I'm jumping my horse and riding him without any of the bolting! He has become a pleasure to ride and my favorite choice. He's become the horse I knew he was when I got him. I was kind of if-y about saddle fit fixing all my problems until it actually did. In the future, I will not ride any horse I own, if it doesn't have a saddle that fits. Amanda was professional, approachable, and informative. I'm very grateful that she was able to give me the horse I knew I'd bought, back!”

Dressage
“I used to ride in a jumper saddle until I was having a lot of behavioral problems with my horse. A friend in the barn suggested getting the saddle checked by Amanda. She came out and sure enough my saddle was too small for my large warmblood. By then I had decided to switch to dressage and Amanda helped me pick out a saddle that fit both mine and my horse’s needs. After getting him in the right fitting saddle, we've been moving up the levels and doing great. With a check-up here and there, she keeps me and my horse very happy and I am really loving my newest saddle Amanda found for me, the Titan II. Thanks, Amanda!”

“Amanda Anderson does a comprehensive evaluation of your horse’s needs and incorporates them with the rider’s needs. Most tack shops only have you sit on the saddle. Away you go, not knowing if the saddle you just dropped a lot of money on will suit your horse. The tack shop’s answer is to sell you a variety of saddle pads to keep your horse from becoming sore. Please, do your horse the highest favor, and get your saddle custom fitted to his back. It will spare him the discomfort of a sore back, and consequently other achy parts as he compensates to avoid feeling the back pain! Believe me, I have been through the above scenario, and Amanda helped me and my horses recover from years of unintended abuse!”
