Amanda Anderson, AP, ESMT, Journeyman Saddle Fitter

Amanda Anderson studied Animal Science and Equine Behavior at Colorado State University and Biology at the University of South Florida before graduating from Suncoast School for Natural Health in human massage therapy and from the EquiCenter's Equine Sports Massage and Acupuncture school in Ocala, Florida. For over two years, she studied saddle fitting from saddle makers in the United Sates and Germany, including Master Saddler Blake Kral and EuroRiding Saddlery, and has completed extensive courses and received certification in saddle fitting and reflocking. In addition, her continuing education and certification includes equine chiropractic studies, Aaron Mattes active and passive stretching, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, TuiNa, Swedish massage, and neuromuscular, sports, and hydro- therapies for humans and equines. In August of 2007, she graduated from the East West College of Natural Medicine as a board certified Acupuncture Physician.

Amanda has owned performance horses and studied horsemanship for over 25 years. She has studied, ridden, and shown classical dressage for the last 15 years under the supervision of nationally and internationally acclaimed riders and judges such as George Williams, John Zopatti, Jeremy and Jan Beale, Anne Gribbons, Charlotte Trentleman, Marilyn Heath, and Charlotte Lassiter. In 2002, she earned her USDF Bronze Medal aboard Giselle. She has been in training consistently with Elizabeth Campbell since 1997, often taking 3-4 lessons daily on several horses. With Elizabeth, she progressed through the level of Prix St. Georges.


 

 

Some of her achievements include:
Earning the title of Equitation Rider (IHSA) for Colorado State University, 1993-1994.
Riding, showing, and training her mare, Giselle.

Acupuncture Physician
Clinical experience treating various internal and external medical disorders, including pain management and sports medicine, through the use of acupuncture, massage, herbal prescriptions, cupping, and acu-point injection therapy.

Clinical internship to observe and treat patients with diverse medical conditions, including pain management, sports medicine, varied internal medical pathologies, pediatric and gynecological issues under direct supervision of experienced licensed and board certified Acupuncture Physicians and Doctors of Oriental Medicine.

Equine Sports Massage Therapist
Over five years of clinical and field experience treating upper level show horses with many performance-related issues, including but not limited to stiffness throughout the topline, hock pain, decreased joint mobility, resistance and behavioral problems, and inability to collect.

Equine Acupuncture
Clinical and field experience to observe and treat equines with acupuncture, e-stim, moxa, and other related Chinese modalities.

Licensed Massage Therapist
Six years treating riders for various sports-related pathologies including sacral and lumbar immobility, decreased range of motion in joints, sciatica, neck pain, and headaches.

Apprentice & Journeyman Saddle Fitter
Field and workshop experience with over 500 fittings. Studied with Master Saddler Blake Kral to fit, build, and customize dressage and hunter-jumper saddles to all types of horses, including those with conformational difficulties.
Continuing education in Berlin, Germany in 6/2006 and 9/2007 with EuroRiding Saddlery.
